Every year in March or April we have taken the girls to a hotel to swim away the winter blues!!
This year for our Mini overnight Winter Vacation we are going to Erie, Pa. (our daughter has an eye Dr apt on Monday afternoon there, since it is around 1.5 hours away we always like to plan something to d when we are there)
I decided that I wanted to save lots of money on this stay!! OF COURSE!!
I thought I would share a few tips on how I save money on hotel rooms.
tip 1 - Book online using traveling planing sites! I used hotels.com this time since I wanted a hotel that had a indoor pool. but if you just need to stay in a certain location and really have no specific amenities you can use hotwire or priceline to save even more!!
tip 2 - Book within a week of staying for even more savings!! Hotels offer extra discounts for last min booking!!!(I save 20% off our hotel stay next week just for waiting until today to book) This isn't really best to do if you are planing on staying during a busy season.
tip 3 - go though ebates when you plan on booking and get 3% cash back when you book at hotels.com and earn 1% back at expedia.com

Saturday Plans
My hubby has been working all week on night shift and has not gotten to see the oldest 2 princesses all week. (he is sleeping when they go to sleep and he leaves for work before they get home from school)
so he wanted to do something special with them tomorrow
so we are taking them to Home Depot at 9am for their free kids workshop then we are going to take them to the the Movie Theater for their Cartoon Saturday morning show.
Every Saturday the movie theater at the Cranberry Mall Shows kids movies at 10am for just $1.00.
this Saturday the movie is going to be Jungle Book. Which the girls have not seen!
They are very excited.
Then we are going to take them out for lunch.
That is our Saturday Plans!! What are you planing?

Rite Aid Deals
I Got some GREAT Deals at Rite Aid tonight!!
I bought. . .
(2) Desitin On sale for BOGO for .01 I used (2) 1.00 off 1 coupons
I paid just 3.00 for 2
(2) Johnson Baby wash/lotion on sale for BOGO for .01. I used (2) 1.00 off 1 coupons (one was a riteaid video coupon)
I paid just 2.50 for 2
(2) Febreze sprays (large bottles) on sale for 5.99 ea I used a BOGOFREE coupon and a 1.00 off 1 coupon
I paid just 4.99 for 2 bottles AND I get a 2.00 MIR
I also grabbed a choc milk & bottle of water for 1.69 for both (kids were thirsty)
so total before coupons came to 23.17
I used a $5/ off $20.00 video value coupon
so OOP was just $7.33 with tax and I will get a 2.00 MIR
so I save around 75% off just with coupons and MIR
I bought. . .

CVS DEALS!!!!
So I read last night that others found that the Huggies wipes Refill pack (216 wipes) was a part of CVS's wipes sale 2 for $5.00. I thought prob just in the big city. LOl But sure enough ny local CVS in Clarion, PA also had this sale. So I was EXCITED!!!!
I bought
(4) large packs of Huggies Wipes on sale for 2/$5.00 I used (2) .50 off one coupons
So I paid just 9.00 for 4 packes of wipes ( 864 wipes ) these packs are normally 7.99 each.
(1) 6 pack scotts double Towels on sale for 4.99 used 1.00 off coupon
Paid just 3.99 for 6 double rolls
(1) soft soap on sale for .88
(1) Lady speed sitck on sale for 2.84 used a .50 offcoupon
paid just 2.34 ( I was souposed to get 2.00 ECB backs but didnt relize that I dint get it until I got home BUMMER)

Valentines DAY!!
For the first time ever, Dana (my Husband) is taking me away for Valentine's Day!!
We are going to NY to a Dinner/ Concert at the Family Life Center we are going to enjoy a full course meal and music by Laura Story!!
then we are staying the night up there too!!
I'm soo EXCITED!!!!
I really need a little break!

First off on Friday night we got Lots of SNOW!!!! We didn't get as much as most people did but we did get enough to cause a few problems.
Then Saturday was busy busy, mainly getting ready for Sunday! LOL
Our Soup-in-bowl dinner at church, turned out to be pretty good. My soup was a big hit, tasted yummy, but not too soupy (is that a word?) the noodles soaked up most of the water but it was still very yummy.
Our Super Bowl Party was good tooo. The big Boys (hubby & his Friends) didn't get hurt playing football int he snow. Food was yummy and the kids were all pretty god. So that makes the Night a very Successful night.

SOUP-IN-BOWL DINNER
Every year on the day of the Super Bowl our church has a soup-n-bowl dinner!!
So every year I try a new soup recipe!
here is this year's
Quick Italian Soup
1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 box Hamburger Helper® lasagna
5 cups hot water
1 can (14.5 oz) whole tomatoes, undrained
1 cup Green Giant® Valley Fresh Steamers™ Niblets® frozen corn
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1. In 4-quart Dutch oven, cook beef and onion over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
2. Stir in hot water, contents of sauce mix pouch (from Hamburger Helper box), tomatoes, corn and cheese; break up tomatoes. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
3.Reduce heat; cover and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4.Stir in contents of uncooked pasta pouch (from Hamburger Helper box) Cover; cook 10 minutes longer. Sprinkle each serving with additional grated Parmesan cheese.

(I'm planing on doubling this and then putting it in my crock pot after step 3 so it stays nice and warm through church)

FREE KIDS WORKSHOP AT HOME DEPOT
This Saturday, February 6th kids can make a car display between 9:00am-Noon at The Home Depot. You'll need to check with your local store for participation, Our Home Depot in Cranberry does!!! YOu can call and register your child. Projects are for ages 5-12 and are on the first Saturday of each month!!I'm planng on taking the oldest 2 princesses to this!! I think they would enjoy making this and probably give it to daddy!!

Tuesday - Meatloaf, baked potatoes, salads, veggies
Wednesday - shake-n-bake chicken tenders, potato wedgies, & veggies
Thursday - Leftovers or Tomato soup & toasted cheese
Friday - Breakfast (eggs, hash browns, sausage, toast)
Saturday - Fish, shrimp, fries, veggies
Sunday - Soup-in-bowl Dinner at Church ( I will betaking some kind of soup and dessert, haven't decided yet, but i will let you now)
Super Bowl PARTY - Hot dogs, kielbasa, sauerkraut, chips, cookies, then what ever everyone else brings
Meatloaf
2lbs ground beef
1/4 cup catsup
1 tsp mustard
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 pack of onion soup mix
1 egg
enough bread crubs to make it firm
Combine all ingredients. bake for 1 hour at 350. 15 mins before it is done take it out and add more catsup on the top to light cover it all over.. continue baking.
Potato Wedgies
Cut potatoes into wedgies
put in a Ziploc bag
add a little oil
add a little garlic garlic (from tastefully simple)
add a little Bacon bacon (from tastefully simple)
add a little Parmesan cheese
Close the bag and give it a shake
then open the bag (LOL)
and dump the potatoes onto a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for about 30 mins or until they are done to your liking.
(this is my recipe, I don measure to much I just add till they look good) The kids LOVE THESE

THEN I USED 5.00 off coupon (that I got the last order)
and paid just 13.88 for all these
At Giant Eagle alone I spent 30.83 oop for 83.32 worth of Food!!!! I saved OVER 50.00 JUST FOR USING COUPONS AND SALES!!!!
